So “The White Card” is about
a White family that invites a Black artist to dinner
because they’re interested in her work. Visual artists are able to engage issues visually and so much of racism gets triggered visually. You know, I could have a phone call with someone
and if they don’t know what I look like, um, they’re not gonna judge me until I show up. And then it’s when I show up in the room
that things go wonky.
