My name is Gina Linder, I am a junior at
MassArt this year I’m in the Studio for Interrelated Media or SIM, and I’m also
in History of Art. So I work at the Museum of Fine Arts. I work as an
Ambassador that’s my job title. And it’s my third year working here. The
Ambassador Program employs federal work-study eligible students from
several different universities here in the Boston area. What we do is give them
an opportunity to work here at the museum – to do way-finding, to act as
informational specialists, to escort visitors to their destination, and
ultimately to make them feel welcome and comfortable here while they’re visiting.
At MassArt, I have an art history practice and an art practice. With the
rotating exhibitions I I get to learn about a lot of different art forms.
Through PartnershipWORKS our Ambassadors have the opportunity to work
here with our visitors and to offer something special in the fact that they
all come from different places. I’ve definitely seen improvement in my social
abilities like just being able to have a conversation with someone. She has really
grown and flourished into a leadership role since she first started in the
program. She’s very dependable, very outgoing,
completely at ease when working with our visitors. I feel like I’ve learned a lot
about professionalism while I’ve been here. I’ve definitely gained an interest in
these kinds of museum careers that I didn’t really know that I
was interested in before. The Ambassador Program continues to grow, our
relationship with MassArt continues to prosper, and I’m just really excited to
move forward and see what the future brings for the two of our institutions.
PartnershipWORKS supports my interests in an art institutional career.
