He Will Be Your Light In The Wilderness: Artist Kate Lee’s Visual Testimony of Christ

My testimony of Jesus Christ can best be
described and one of my favorite scriptures in the Book of Mormon, in
1st Nephi chapter 17 verse 13; and this is Christ talking to Nephi and He’s
saying, “I will be your light in the wilderness.” The first time I read that
scripture I remember it hitting me pretty hard, but I didn’t really know how
to apply that in my life. I remember learning about Christ growing up and
about what His life can do for us and what He did for us. And I always knew
that He was there, I knew that He was real and I knew that what He did for us was true, but I didn’t always believe that I was included in that, I didn’t think that I was good enough for it. Throughout the years I started to really
understand what that scripture meant, “I will be your light in the wilderness,” I was lost and Christ even though Christ was there, ready to give me His light and
ready to lead the way, I wasn’t seeing it. And thankfully recent experiences
have taught me, you know, that Christ is there, that His atonement
absolutely includes me. I know that Christ lives,
and I know that He loves us. I know that He loves me individually. I know that because of Him,
we can overcome the things that hold us back. I know that His hands are forever stretched out
towards me, and towards all of us. I know that if I just take the time to turn to Him and give Him my load, that He will,
that He’s not going to push that off, that He’s right there waiting for me. I love Him. I’m grateful for Him. I’m grateful that my understanding has
changed and that I can be a part, and take part of the atonement that He has
given to all of us.
