  • If I get a book for review then they want my honest opinion and there have been a few I didn't like and a couple I DNFd and I did review it that way.

  • I get what you mean by adult. In the non-book world adult implies heavy sexual content. But in the book world that same thing would be erotic fiction. I tend to get the same reaction…..

  • Great vid as always. I agree with you on the honesty and DNF books. I had one I recently couldn't finish and there is no shame in that. To keep reading would be a waste of time…and every reader has different tastes. Do you ever review Indie books? I just found you, sorry if you have in past videos I haven't seen. I don't review them if they have editing problems, because I believe, as Indie Authors, there is an obligation to put out quality books. But, calling them out for such problems could help ensure authors hire editors (it is a must!). Just curious. Again, love your channel. I really enjoy your sense of humor and reading expertise!

  • I love John Bellairs! My husband has the whole set from when he was a kid, and we've been reading them with our son. So Cool!! We love the Edward Gorey covers–gorgeous! Have you read the manuscripts that were completed by Brad Strickland, as well as his original novels? I think he did a pretty good job of staying true to the John Bellairs style πŸ™‚

  • I reread Harry Potter last year by listening to the audiobooks and it was a completely different experience for me. Good luck with your reading this month! Sounds like you have quite a few interesting books to read. πŸ™‚

  • The Iron Trial is amazing!! I read it this month and wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did. I really hope you like it!

  • I do the "extras" as well. Usually call them "Maybe/If Time Books." I am re-reading HP as well, plus extra related books (Beetle the Bard, etc) but I'm waiting on the first illustrated book to come to my house. It's killing me! πŸ™ I'm excited other people are re-reading them though. I just realized I missed this series so much some time last year and decided I would do some re-reading of that and other series I miss. The bigger ones might take at least 2 months though.

I don't think the author month is weird, it's sweet. As long as you enjoy it, who cares? I force myself to read books I'm not enjoying in general but I guess I'm a sucker for hoping it will get better (and in some cases it has). Have a few I've DNFed though and I think it's fine if you DNF books, even review books. At least you're honest instead of lying and saying you did though, you know?

Tell the people to get their minds out of the gutter about Adult Fiction! lol. Happy reading!

  • It is not weird to pay homage to an author you admire. You have inspired me to read one of his books. I so enjoy your videos.

  • My birthday is February 24th!! When is yours? And I am kind of wanting to get the screen play for Fantastic Beasts, but I'm a little iffy about it. And I also wanting to reread Harry Potter, but I also haven't yet because I have a lot more books to read as well.

  • The Iron Trial is so good! I loved the Copper Gauntlet more and I can't wait to read the rest of the books! Hope you enjoy it too

  • I think it's awesome that you want to celebrate the life of one of your favorite authors! I do the same thing. πŸ™‚

  • I like the extra book pile idea! I'm wanting to do one Harry Potter book re-read a month this year but we'll see, I have a ton of books I want to read this year it's a bit overwhelming lol.

  • Can you do an extra video about your John Bellairs Festival? I'd be really interested to hear about your favorite traditions. My favorite book of his is The Face in the Frost.

  • Wow, didn't know DJ MacHale had written any middle grade horror! I loved his Pendragon series when I was a kid, and I've read the first two of his SYLO trilogy. He definitely has some interesting premises. His writing reminds me a bit of Rick Riordan now that I think on it actually! πŸ˜€ Hope it's good.
